Extension privacy policy
Save Page as PDF to Drive saves web pages you choose into your own Google Drive or onto your own computer. It is built to collect as little as possible.

This policy covers the browser extension. The Desktora website has its own privacy policy.
1. What happens when you save a page
When you click Save (or use the right-click menu or keyboard shortcut), the extension turns the current page into a PDF or image inside your browser. Then, depending on what you chose:
- Google Drive: the file is uploaded directly to your Google Drive. The page’s address is added to the file’s description in Drive, so you can find it again.
- This computer: the file is handed to your browser’s own downloads and goes to your Downloads folder (or wherever you choose). Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
The page is never sent to us or to anyone else. The extension uses no servers of ours.
If you edit the page first (highlight text, remove parts, or use Simple view), all of it happens in your browser, on the page itself, and is saved as part of the file. Simple view uses Mozilla’s Readability, which is built into the extension and runs on your computer. “Save highlights” saves just the highlighted text, the page’s title and address, and the date: as a Google Doc in your Drive, or as a web page file on your computer. None of this is stored anywhere else, and it disappears when you reload the page.
If you right-click an image or link and choose “Save to Google Drive”, the extension downloads that file the way the page itself would (so files that need you to be signed in to that website still work) and uploads it to your Drive.
2. Google account access
You only need to connect a Google account to save to Drive. Saving to your computer works without one.
The extension asks Google for the drive.file permission only. This lets it:
- create a “Saved Pages” folder and folders you make from the extension,
- upload the files you save, and
- move a file it saved to your Drive trash, only when you click Undo or Move to trash.
It cannot see, read, or change any other files in your Drive. It also reads your Google account’s name and email address from Drive so it can show which account you are saving to.
You can disconnect at any time from the extension’s settings, or remove its access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
The extension’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
3. What is stored on your device
In your browser’s local extension storage:
- your settings (format, where to save, file name pattern, paper size, and so on),
- the email address of the connected account,
- the ID of your “Saved Pages” folder, and
- a list of your 20 most recent saves (file name, Drive link or download number, time, page address) so the popup can show them.
The Google sign-in token is kept in temporary browser memory and is cleared when you close the browser. Removing the extension deletes all of this. Files saved to your computer stay there until you delete them.
4. What we don’t do
- No analytics, tracking, or advertising.
- No selling or sharing of data.
- No access to pages you don’t choose to save or edit.
5. Permissions explained
- Scripting: Shows the editing toolbar (highlight, remove parts, Simple view) on the page, only after you click Edit in the popup or right-click menu.
- Debugger: Uses the browser’s built-in print engine to make the PDF or image, and downloads an image or linked file you right-click to save. Only used on the page you are saving, only while saving.
- Active tab: Reads the title and address of the page you choose to save, to name the file.
- Downloads: Saves files to your computer when you choose “This computer”, and shows them in their folder.
- Offscreen: A hidden extension page that prepares large files for your Downloads folder. It can’t see any website.
- Identity: Signs you in to Google.
- Storage: Keeps your settings and recent saves.
- Context menus: Adds “Save page”, “Edit page”, “Save image to Google Drive” and “Save linked file to Google Drive” to the right-click menu.
- Notifications: Tells you when a save from the menu or shortcut has finished.
- googleapis.com: Uploads files to Google Drive.
